<span>STORY: Boeing on Wednesday reported a nearly $5 billion charge related to delays in its 777X aircraft program.</span><span>Despite progress on the 737 MAX, the planemaker continues to face setbacks with its 777X program.</span><span>He said the first delivery of the model has been delayed until early 2027.</span><span>The plane was originally marked for delivery five years ago.</span><span>Last month, CEO Kelly Ortberg said the company was behind on certifying the plane.</span><span>He added that a “mountain of work” needed to be done.</span><span>Boeing cautiously increased monthly production of its 737 MAX this year.</span><span>Earlier this month, the company received long-awaited approval from US regulators to increase production of the 737 MAX to 42 aircraft per month.</span><span>The limit of 38 that had been in place since last year was reduced.</span><span>That limit was imposed after a panel exploded in mid-air on an almost new plane.</span><span>Wall Street closely follows deliveries, as aircraft manufacturers often receive most of their payments by delivering planes to customers.</span><span>Make deliveries a key indicator of revenue and cash flow.</span>
