Jackson, Miss. The FBI arrested a Mississippi sheriff’s deputy Thursday morning, one of several arrests it has made across multiple law enforcement agencies in the state, a local sheriff said.
Sunflower County Sheriff James Haywood confirmed the arrest of his deputy, Marvin Flowers, and said without giving details that the FBI had made other law enforcement arrests. The county is located in the northwestern part of the state.
The FBI in Jackson, the state capital, said it planned to make a major announcement later Thursday in cooperation with the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi. The nature of the planned announcement was not clarified.
Several law enforcement agencies in Mississippi have faced federal scrutiny in recent years.
