new orleans — A federal anti-immigration crackdown began Wednesday in New Orleans as part of an operation that a Department of Homeland Security official said would target violent criminals, expanding the scope of Trump administration crackdowns that have unfolded in other U.S. cities.
Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security, Tricia McLaughlin, said in a statement that the aim of the operation is to arrest immigrants who were released after being arrested for crimes such as home invasion, armed robbery and rape.
