Channel 11 was present outside Acrisure Stadium during part of the action. We heard from some of the 5,000 fans in total who attended, who didn’t let the weather stop them from watching.
“I love having my Pittsburgh people show up and show up,” said attendee Ronan Bray. “I also love my people from New Jersey and West Virginia. I love everyone who comes here.”
Ashley Rosemeyer, a snowboard photographer, served as one of the judges for the competition.
“Being from Pittsburgh, it was great to come here for Red Bull Heavy Metal,” Rosemeyer said. “I wasn’t sure what heat the riders would throw, so it was awesome to see everyone there cheering each other on.”

Jack Hnath, a Pittsburgh native and trophy curator, explained the importance of the awards’ design.
“The Pittsburgh skyline was used for the first place trophy, and then someone else had a great idea for the Clemente Bridge for the second and third place trophies, and it was just an exciting process. It was fun to work on,” Hnath said.
