Newly released video of a fatal accident Shooting at an ice rink in Rhode Island Last week shows a chaotic scene of bystanders and law enforcement rushing to help victims and initial confusion over who fired the shots.
“My father shot my brother,” a woman told an officer outside the plaza, who also obtained police body camera video Boston Globe On Friday shows.
A more than 21-minute video posted by the Pawtucket Police Department shows the officer quickly rushing into the arena. The video was almost completely blurry except for the exterior of the building and images of the stands.
Authorities say the shooter, Robert Dorgan, 56, targeted family members during a youth hockey game. Dorgan’s ex-wife Rhonda Dorgan, his adult son Aidan Dorgan, and Rhonda Dorgan’s father, Gerald DorganThey killed. Rhonda Dorgan’s mother, Linda Dorgan, and family friend Thomas Girosso were injured.
Robert Dorgan, who also went by the names Roberta Esposito and Roberta Dorgano, died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.
In the video, the police officer can be heard shouting: “Where is he? Where is he?” He enters the square and raises his gun.
The officer goes past the jackets and bags, runs to the people gathered in front of the stands and repeatedly asks, “Where is the shooter?”
“The shooter is here,” a man told him.
Over the next few minutes, the video depicts a fast-paced scene as the officer and bystanders who identify themselves as a firefighter and a nurse, as well as others, rush to work together to help the victims.
A man checks the victim’s pulse and describes it as “faint.” The officer directs someone to get more rags so he can apply pressure to the victim’s wounds. Another voice sobbed in the background.
Voices can be heard describing a man with two gunshot wounds to the back and a woman with two gunshot wounds to the back, side and hand.
“Aidan, hey, talk to me, Aidan. Aidan, how old are you? How old are you, buddy?” the officer asks before apparently discovering more gunshot wounds. “Oh, he’s got three. Oh, God, he’s got more.”
Law enforcement authorities credited several “good Samaritans” who intervened and quickly stopped the attack. At least three bystanders were able to contain the shooter in the stands while the crowd fled and ran around them.
