Oslo — Oslo (AFP) – Norwegian police Police are investigating a possible explosion outside the US Embassy in Oslo early Sunday, officials said.

No injuries were reported. Oslo police said in a press release that police received reports of a “loud bang” or explosion around 1 a.m.

Local media reported that one of the entrances to the embassy was slightly damaged, and people nearby said that the street was covered in heavy smoke after the explosions. Police are seeking to speak with witnesses as they search for the perpetrators.

Norway’s police security service, PST, called in additional personnel after the incident, but it did not change the level of the terrorist threat in the country, according to communications advisor Martin Bernsen.

The US Embassy in Oslo referred media inquiries to the US State Department, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The Oslo police did not do this. No other details were available.
