Eid is usually greeted with joy and excitement, and is characterized by prayers and celebrations that include family visits, gatherings, outings, and new clothes. Prayers and celebrations are held throughout Islamic countries such as Egypt, and by Muslims in Greece, Russia and beyond.
This year, Eid is also marked by the war raging in Iran and many parts of the Middle East.
