Marana, Arizona — Two people were killed in a plane crash at a small airport in Arizona, officials said Wednesday.
Marana Mayor John Post said the plane ran off the runway and caught fire.
City spokesman Vic Hathaway said two people were on board the plane. They were not identified. No other injuries were reported and no other aircraft were involved, the Marana Police Department said in a news release.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it is investigating the Piper PA-32 crash.
Marana is located about 20 miles (32 kilometers) northwest of Tucson.
