Miami — teenager On charges of killing his sister Aboard a Carnival cruise ship, he entered a not guilty plea Tuesday and waived his appearance at a hearing in Miami federal court.
Defense attorney Eric Cohen said in a court filing that Timothy Hudson received the indictment and will waive his court appearance scheduled for Wednesday. The 16-year-old also signed the one-page document.
Cohen did not immediately respond to an email seeking further comment
Hudson is being tried as an adult in the death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner, whose body was found under a bed in the Carnival Horizon room she shared with him and another teen during a family trip in November.
Hudson is charged with murder and aggravated sexual assault. He has remained free in the care of his uncle since his arrest in February, although prosecutors now want the judge to detain him while the case proceeds. This case is not resolved.
Kepner was a high school cheerleader at Temple Christian School in Titusville, Florida, about 40 miles (65 kilometers) east of Orlando. Her cause of death on November 6 was determined to be mechanical asphyxia, which is when a person’s body or force prevents them from breathing.
