Lydia Church now has your eye on gold in Los Angeles in 2028

A winner for the bronze medal said he was “buzzing” after arriving third in the bullet launch and was now pointing to “gold, baby.”

Peterborough Lydia Church won the bronze in the female F12 bullet launch, with a 12 my 60 cm launch in the World Athletics Championship for New Delhi on Saturday.

The F12 category is for athletes with visual disabilities and this was the first global competition of the church since their back was injured.

Church, who recently underwent an operation, said: “I’m buzzing, I can’t believe it, I just came out, I enjoyed it, I had fun and, to go out with a medal, you can’t ask for more than that.”

She has been competing in athletics since she was eight years old and made her international debut in Dubai in the 2019 World Athletics Championship, ending in eighth place

Church claimed his first international medal with a money at the F12 bullet launch in the European Athletics Championship of 2021 in Poland.

Speaking after his bronze in New Delhi, he told the BBC: “I only did two competitions before this, since I was recovering from a background operation, so this opportunity was just enjoying it, and if I go out with a medal you can’t ask for more, so I’m really happy with performance.”

His views are now located in the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

It would be “really big,” he said, adding that she and her coach had been “working very hard.”

“It’s big there, I wasn’t destined to be today, but it will come, it will come,” he said.

After his back operation, Church said that “I did not expect to be here, and I am dating a medal.”

“My trust has just firing.

“I feel safer when I am launching, and in a competition you don’t have to stop.

“It has been incredible to compete here, when you are relaxed and happy, anything can happen.

“The GB team is incredible, they always leave and are there, many shouts and people who look.”

His goal is to compete in Los Angeles in three years and added: “You can only live and dream, right?

“And we are doing all the work to make it possible, so yes, gold, baby.”
