Law enforcement agencies in southern Indiana are urging parents to talk to their children about the dangers of a new TikTok challenge, according to Facebook posts from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office and the Jeffersonville Police Department.

The publications detail that the new trend consists of participants approaching random houses with an airsoft weapon and trying to kick the door open.

“If the door is forced open, the juveniles will fire the airsoft gun toward the home in rapid succession before fleeing,” authorities said. “However, if the door cannot be forced, the minors will stand at the side of the residence and fire the airsoft gun at the owner when they leave the house.”

Jennings County Sheriff’s Office officials said the department was dispatched to a similar incident early on Oct. 4. The department has located all of the people involved.

“We fear this has the potential to become more popular as time goes on,” Jennings County officials said. “This trend presents extreme danger to everyone involved.”
