Sustainable infrastructure investor Actis completed the sale of Orygen, a Peruvian energy generation company, to the Romero Group.
The transaction was completed through a subsidiary managed by InfraCorp, the energy and infrastructure investment arm of Grupo Romero, one of Peru’s largest conglomerates.
Orygen is the second largest electricity generation platform in Peru with a total installed capacity of 2.3GW, diversified in wind, solar, hydroelectric and thermal gas assets.
Under the ownership of Actis since its launch in 2024, Orygen positioned itself as a leader in renewable energy in Peru, following the acquisition of Enel’s stake in Enel Generación Perú and full ownership of CompañÃa Energética Veracruz.
Development under Actis included the completion of Wayra 2, a 177 MW wind farm, and the start of construction of Wayra Solar, a 100 MW peak solar project.
Orygen also sourced more than 1.7 terawatt-hours of renewable energy from third-party developers last year, enhancing its appeal to commercial and industrial customers in Peru.
A notable achievement during this period was the issuance of an investment grade bond worth 1.2 billion dollars (4.13 billion new soles) in September 2024.
This bond marked the largest single-tranche Peruvian private corporate bond sale at the time and represented Actis’ largest capital markets debt initiative.
The bond issuance significantly improved Orygen’s financial structure and demonstrated investor confidence in its strategic direction and the quality of its assets.
Actis’ efforts aimed at digital transformation, strategic repositioning, commercial empowerment and capital structure optimization consolidated Orygen’s status in the national energy sector.
These initiatives guided the company toward an accelerated exit strategy.
Actis managing director of energy infrastructure Nicolas Escallon said: “From the beginning, Orygen reflected the type of opportunity Actis seeks to capture: proactively sourcing high-quality businesses, often before they reach the market, and applying our operational and financial expertise to generate more value.
“In less than two years, we have built the platform into a market leader and realized significant value for our investors.”
In its broader operations, Actis has invested $11 billion in the global energy sector since its inception and manages $8.5 billion in energy assets.
The company has built, operated or contracted around 42 GW of capacity worldwide and has successfully closed more than 50 real asset investments.
In December 2025, Mubadala Investment Company partnered with Actis and pledged around €300 million ($351.25 million) to support Rezolv Energy, an independent renewable energy platform in Central and Eastern Europe.
