For the most part, Michigan football has managed to secure those it wanted to get out of the transfer portal. But lately, it’s been a little more unpredictable.

The Wolverines landed some big names, including Utah defensive end John Henry Daley, Texas wide receiver Jaime Ffrench and Utah wide receiver JJ Buchanan. But after missing linebackers Rasheem Biles and Cade Uluave, there has been some consternation among the fan base.

And things weren’t much easier thanks to the wandering eye of one of the maize and blue’s top targets.

Once again, in another Utah transfer, standout cornerback Smith Snowden was thought to be a shoo-in to follow his former head coach to Ann Arbor. However, he took visits to Notre Dame and Oregon, raising questions about whether he could do it or not. What’s more, given his academic standing, there were some concerns outside the program that he would not be admitted, as Michigan wants at least 60 credits to be taken on campus in order to receive a degree.

Those doubts were put to rest on Tuesday, however, when Snowden finally pulled the trigger and is a Wolverine.

Snowden is the fifth defensive back available in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. She will join a room with incumbent starters Zeke Berry and Jyaire Hill, as well as other talent, including second-year player Shamari Earls.
