In a blow to the league, LIV Golf could soon lose its funding from Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

It comes after just four years since its inception in 2022, and could also have major implications for the PGA Tour, which many players left to join LIV Golf.
But Alexis Ohanian has now ensured another company has entered the conversation, after reminding golf fans of his successful deal with the TMRW Golf League (TGL).
Reddit co-creator Ohanian sent a timely reminder about his investment in Los Angeles Golf Club.

“Don’t worry, I saved some of the tweets.”
And he shared some of those saved messages sent to him at the time, one of which said: “This is going to be an epic bomb. No one is going to watch the pros play golf on a simulator.”
A similar comment read: “This will be a complete failure. Watching someone hit balls in a simulator is one of the most boring things you will ever do.”
And another of his followers simply told him: “You’re going to fail!”
Ohanian is clearly enjoying his apparent position of superiority in the discussion at the moment, having recently witnessed LAGC claim the TGL 2026 title.
They defeated Jupiter Links GC in this year’s final, and golf legend Tiger Woods returned from injury to participate in the event.

Ohanian is evidently confident in the long-term future of TGL, which returned earlier this year for a second season after starting in 2025.

The indoor league was founded by Woods and Rory McIlroy and is made up of six teams of four PGA Tour players each, although a seventh team has been confirmed for the 2027 season.
Its success, which will take place at the SoFi Center in Florida, has inspired a women’s edition, and WTGL is preparing to launch in the winter of 2026-27.
And Ohanian will also be keeping an eye on that event since he is an investor in Los Angeles GC Women.
Interestingly, the LAGC investor is joined in that role by his wife Serena Williams and his sister and fellow tennis legend Venus Williams.
Also participating are NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, LPGA ace Michelle Wie West and soccer icon Alex Morgan.
