Their divorce was granted in June of that year. Mackey was living in Virginia at the time, court records and addresses show. He completed a two-year fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center in October 2022, according to the school.
Mackey also has lived and is licensed to practice medicine in both California and Nevada, where he was among the doctors named in a personal injury lawsuit in a Las Vegas court in 2023. OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, Illinois, where Mackey was working at the time of his arrest, declined to provide specific information about his work dates. The Tepes were “extraordinary people whose lives were filled with love, joy and a deep connection to others,” family members said.
They described Monique as a “happy mother, an avid baker, and a ‘thoughtful planner.’” According to their obituaries, which were jointly released, they married in 2020.
Spencer Tippe earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University in 2012 and earned his doctorate in dental surgery in 2017, according to school records. He was a member of the American Dental Association and involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters.
They had two young children. Both were in the home at the time of the killing and were unharmed, as was the family dog.
