One of the Arizona Cardinals’ free agency additions was reported Tuesday, a one-year deal for former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Matt Pryor. Initial reactions were that the Cardinals had landed their right tackle to replace Jonah Williams. Others wondered if he could be placed as a starting guard.

He has 40 career starts, 25 at guard, and was the Chicago Bears’ starting right guard in 2024.

However, with the news of how much his one-year contract costs, there should be no expectations of being a starter.

Pryor got a one-year, league minimum contract worth less than $1.3 million.

Pryor is a seasoned veteran and has played everywhere on the offensive line except center. He has played 109 games in his career, starting 40.

But he shouldn’t be projected as an answer to the Cardinals’ current hole at right tackle or potentially at guard. He may be a starter, but he isn’t counted on to do more than compete for a roster spot.
