Los Angeles Lakers star Austin Reaves is again listed as questionable for Game 4 of the team’s series against the Houston Rockets.

Before Game 3, Reaves was listed as questionable for the first time in three weeks. He tried to try it, according to reports, but after warming up he was ruled out.

Reaves is battling an oblique injury that has kept him out of action since playing against the Oklahoma City Thunder in early April.

The oblique is an area sensitive to injury and is tricky because a player can be comfortable and pain-free until they are stressed or pushed.

Reaves was initially given a four- to six-week schedule, but the guard has remained steadfast in his approach and wants to play.

He has been with the team throughout the recovery process, hoping to support the group of players on their way back.

Head coach JJ Redick told reports Saturday morning that Reaves will get more work in hopes of assessing his availability.

Do the Lakers need Reaves?

Given their 3-0 lead and how the team has played, it’s fair to wonder if the Lakers even need to pressure Reaves to play.

With Kevin Durant not healthy on the Rockets’ side and with such a huge lead, they would be better off holding him off until the next series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, with the reigning champions leading 3-0.

However, the Lakers are operating on such small margins that they could bolster Reaves on the court and give him some time against real NBA competition to prepare.

Additionally, with LeBron James as the sole creator, the team is certainly limited in handling the ball.
