In Dallas, Fudd reunites with his former running mate and UConn girlfriend, Paige Bueckers, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 draft. Bueckers was in the building to cheer on Fudd on his big night.

It was also a historic selection by the Wings, as Fudd and Bueckers became the first college teammates to be selected No. 1 overall in consecutive years by the same team. The two women won the 2025 NCAA national championship alongside the Huskies, before their historic reunion a year later.

Last season at UConn, Fudd averaged 14.7 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game while shooting 46.9 percent from the field. She was named first-team All-American.
Now, she is preparing for the start of her professional career, which will officially begin on Thursday, April 30 against Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. The two teams will play again a little more than a week later to kick off the regular season at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Saturday, May 9.
