image reports that the Borussia Dortmund hierarchy are not happy with Nico Schlotterbeck’s comments following Sunday’s 3-2 win against Heidenheim.

After the victory, which meant Die Schwarzgelben closed the gap on Bayern Munich at the top to just six points, Schlotterbeck said:

“I think as BVB we have to start saying: ‘We want to be champions!’. We were a little lucky to win today, but I don’t give a damn. We won!”

Comments like this have not gone down well with the likes of coach Niko Kovac, sporting director Sebastian Kehl and sporting director Lars Ricken, as he continues to put pressure on them.

Reacting to Schlotterbeck’s comments, Kovac said:

“I don’t know if Schlotti said that word for word. My attention is in the rearview mirror. I want to see the teams behind us shrink first. We need to score points to keep the teams behind us at bay.”

While Kehl added:

“Of course, we don’t want to give up this second place at the end of the year, that’s obvious. What you have, you want to keep. We have to be realistic about first place; Bayern are simply doing a good job. They usually win the German championship, the DFB Cup and the Champions League.”

Dortmund’s important weeks:

Dortmund can reduce the gap on Bayern to just three points and increase the pressure even more at the weekend, as they play Wolfsburg on Saturday, while the league leaders play Hoffenheim on Sunday. While at the end of the month, Dortmund hosts Bayern at Signal Iduna Park, which is between matches against Atalanta in the Champions League.
