BOSTON, MA – Another great figure in Major League Baseball has elected free agency.
The Wally Head, worn by Red Sox players after hitting home runs in the 2025 season, has declined his mutual option to remain with the Boston Red Sox in 2026, Over the Monster reports. He will join the pool of free agents, along with many other less notable names around the league, including Alex Bregman, Alec Bohm, Kyle Tucker and Pete Alonso. Meanwhile, Wally the Green Monster is expected to remain in the Red Sox organization, along with his sister Tessie and their parents, who emerge from the ether on Mother’s and Father’s Day.
Agent Scott Boras, who represents Wally Head because, for some reason, he represents all the notable individuals in baseball, commented on the decision, stating to the media: “We look forward to exploring Wally Head’s options for the 2026 season. Teams should be aware of of the potential that Wally Head brings to the game as a wearer of many hats.“
Sports analysts and members of the media speculate that Wally Head will seek $250 million over three years, although it’s unclear what kind of environment he’ll seek: a team that hits more home runs, so he can be used more often, or a team with less power, so he doesn’t have to deal with the dirty, dirty, dirty heads of the players he sits on. The Yankees, Phillies and Blue Jays are all possible landing spots for the first option, especially given the financial request Wally Head is expected to make. If you go the second route, the Royals may be the only team with a lower home run rate that would be willing to spend the money, along with the Red Sox themselves, who are partially forced to listen to offers since Wally Head is directly associated with their brand.
The Wally Head declined to comment because he cannot speak.
