Two days after being found guilty of first-degree murder, Walsh will return to court to hear his sentencing. This charge carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.

Prosecutors told the jury that the Massachusetts State Crime Laboratory examined some items for DNA and found DNA from Anna and Brian Walsh on a Tyvek suit and DNA from Anna Walsh on an ax, saw and other items.
There were several possible motives for the killing put forward by prosecutors.
It could have been financial. An insurance adjuster testified that Brian Walsh was the sole beneficiary of Anna Walsh’s $1 million life insurance policy. When initially questioned by investigators, Walsh said his wife had been called to Washington, D.C., on New Year’s Day for a work emergency. But witnesses testified there was no evidence that Anna Walsh took a shuttle to the airport or boarded a flight. Walsh did not contact her employer until January 4.
Walsh later admitted that he dismembered her body and disposed of it in the trash, saying he did so only after he panicked when he found his wife dead in bed.
