Brodido retained his World Tag Team Championship over the Don Callis Family tag team of Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada at AEW WrestleDream.
Brodido was due to face the team of the AEW Unified Champion and the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion after they lost a “Double-Jeopardy” elimination match on “AEW Dynamite”. Takeshita and Okada sought to put aside their differences and bring more gold to the Don Callis family.
Bandido was quickly isolated by the pairing of Takeshita and Okada, and Brody King found his way into things through hot tags and subsequent periods of dominance. However, over a period of time, both Okada and Takeshita advanced, albeit working alone with a respective competitor, once again isolating Bandido in the ring.
That advantage arguably came to an end by his own hands, with Takeshita turning his attention away from King and engaging with Bandido, then shifting his attention to his own partner as King wrestled another hot tag.
After an exchange of near falls and Takeshita barely staying in the match thanks to a Shooting Star Press, he brought Bandido back into the ring and began tearing into the kinesiology tape-wrapped shoulder and set up for the finish; Okada tagged in, going for the Rainmaker but was reversed when Takeshita refused to help and left the ring. King and Bandido then isolated Okada in the corner to fire off some strikes, dropping him with a Gonzo Bomb knee before Takeshita finally broke the fall.
King suplexed Takeshita, who had held on to Okada to try to anchor him and pull Bandido off the ropes, sending all three men to the mat. Okada hit Takeshita with the Rainmaker, smiling after the fact and mockingly apologizing before turning into a Bandit. Bandido looked for the 21-Plex, but was unable to lift Okada due to his injured shoulder. King entered the ring to help him, and finally with a one-armed 21-Plex Bandido he stopped Okada to retain the title.
