The Brooklyn Nets have 52 jersey numbers worn by over 600 different players throughout their history since the franchise was founded in 1967 as a founding member of the American Basketball Association (ABA), when the team was known as the “New Jersey Americans.”

That league has since been absorbed into the NBA with the team that would later become the New York Nets and the New Jersey Nets before settling on the name they are known by today, bringing with them their rich history of players and jerseys to today’s league.

To commemorate the players who played for the Nets over the decades wearing those 52 different jersey numbers, Nets Wire covers the complete history of the franchise’s jersey numbers and the players who sported them since the team’s founding.

And for today’s article, we’ll continue with the second of six people who will wear the number 32 jersey, forward Tommie Bowens. After finishing his college career at Grambling State University, Bowens went undrafted in the 1967 NBA Draft and signed with the (defunct) Denver Rockets of the ABA.

The native of Okolona, Mississippi, would play the first season of his professional career with the Rockets, coming to an end when he signed with the (then) New York Americans (now Brooklyn Nets) in 1968. His stay with the team would span just one season, coming to an end when he was traded to the (also defunct) New Orleans Buccaneers in 1969.

During his time in a Nets uniform, Bowens wore only jersey number 32 and scored 6.0 points and the same number of assists per game.
