Left guard Joel Bitonio has been one of the few bright spots over the years with the Cleveland Browns, no matter how bad things were around him. His contract was scheduled to void on Monday, and if it had, the team would have had to pay a $23 million salary cap charge.

However, Bitonio and the team agreed to move the canceled date to the beginning of the new league year, which is next March. It is not yet clear whether Bitonio will retire. You can see the physical toll all these years have taken on him, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he calls it a career.

But backtracking on this null date simply gives Bitonio more time to figure out what he wants to do; He could retire, sign a new contract with the Browns or even decide he wants to test free agency and possibly sign somewhere outside of Cleveland.
