The Buffalo Bills defense was already working shorthanded on Sunday. Now rookie Landon Jackson, who was in just his third career start, is down with a knee injury, ruled out for the remainder of Week 9 against the Miami Dolphins.
On a second down play, Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright attempted to press for the first down. Jackson was seen on his back clutching his knee. After the whistle blew, the rookie running back ripped off his helmet as coaches came to his aid.
Finally, Jackson limped off the field under his own power and headed directly to the blue medical tent on the Buffalo sideline. Shortly afterward he headed to the locker room helped by a member of the coaching staff.
The Bills are without defensive end Michael Hoecht, who tore his Achilles tendon last week and is out for the rest of the season, and defensive end AJ Epenesa, who is in concussion protocol. That leaves them with just three defensive ends on the roster: Greg Rousseau, Javon Solomon and Joey Bosa.
