The Chicago Bears traveled to take on their fiercest rivals, the Green Bay Packers, this week. In a game in which both teams were fighting for the lead in the NFC North, this matchup carried more weight than it usually does between these two teams.

After a very slow first half, the action picked up in the second as both teams went back and forth, finding the end zone. Going into the fourth quarter, it seemed almost inevitable that Caleb Williams would lead the Bears to another late comeback.
In fact, Caleb drove the ball all over the field with a chance to tie the game in the final minute. As he turned left, he had Cole Kmet wide open running toward the back of the end zone, but he was a little late.
The pass ended up being intercepted by Keisean Nixon, and that was it.

Caleb Williams takes responsibility for final command error
Caleb Williams, justified or not, has been given the mantle of being something of a diva since he entered the league. There have been reports of attitude problems in the past, but when asked by the media about the sealed game, Williams had this to say.
In those moments, you know, it was a moment of having to have it, and they had a guy following me, so I didn’t feel like I could get it myself. I just have to give Cole a better chance. I think next time, just spread it out a little more and guide it. But in those moments, you want to put the ball in play and trust your guy or try to get your guy to make a play, and I just have to give him a better ball.
You’re right, it has to be a better ball. If so, the Bears score and go for two to win or take overtime. Either option is better than the result.
One part of that quote is especially impressive. He says, “I guess next time.” These two teams will meet in two weeks on Sunday Night Football, and if you think Caleb and the Bears won’t be ready for that rematch, you’re sorely mistaken.
