There’s no word yet on Morton’s official hiring, but the 56-year-old coach was spotted at Broncos practice on Wednesday ahead of the team’s divisional round playoff game against the Buffalo Bills this weekend.

Morton was just fired by the Detroit Lions last week after one season as offensive coordinator. Prior to that stint in Detroit, Morton previously coached under Sean Payton with the New Orleans Saints (2015-2016) and again in Denver (2023-2024). He was a passing game coordinator with the Broncos before returning to the Lions, where he was a senior offensive assistant in 2022.
There have been no official announcements so far, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see Morton return to Payton’s staff, especially if Denver loses coaches to other clubs this offseason. At least four Broncos assistants are being pursued by other teams, including quarterbacks coach Davis Webb.
Denver is unlikely to make any potential changes to the coaching staff before the season ends.
