Doctor Khumalo gives his opinion on Hugo Broos’ selections for the Bafana Bafana team!
Legendary South African footballer Dr Khumalo has expressed his strong support for the recent selections of national coach Hugo Broos, specifically praising the inclusion of two players in particular.

Commenting on the initial 54-player squad, Khumalo said Broos is the first Bafana Bafana coach in recent memory to face such a welcome challenge in finalizing his team.
Broos is set to lead South Africa to its second consecutive African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, scheduled to begin in Morocco on December 21, 2025. The team is drawn in Group B with Zimbabwe, Angola and Egypt.
“I think this is the first coach who has a headache with player selection,” Khumalo said. “For the first time I have seen a coach whose preliminary squad has more than 40 or 30 players. Back then he had 54. It is clear that something is happening within the PSL and the players are raising their hands.”
The Kaizer Chiefs legend attributes this difficult selection to an exceptional level of talent currently present in the national league, which he believes has created a strong and highly competitive group of players for the national team.
