Robinson suffered a concussion in the Dolphins’ Week 9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens and was sidelined last week against the Buffalo Bills. Following a trade that sent Jaelan Phillips to the Philadelphia Eagles, Robinson will now have an expanded role in the Dolphins’ defense upon his return.

“I hope Chop is great. That’s really as simple as it gets,” Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver told reporters Thursday. “I think through repetition, the more he’s out there, the more you’ll feel it in the game. I think he’s a volume, like volume shooters in basketball, I think he’s a volume player when it comes to football, so just with him being on the field, yeah, he’s going to make some mistakes like everyone else, but he’s going to make more plays than he’s going to hurt you.”
As a rookie in 2024, Robinson reaped the benefits of an increased snap count as the year progressed. With Bradley Chubb sidelined for the year and Phillips lost to a torn ACL suffered in Week 4, the first-round pick took on a larger role than the team initially intended when he was selected 21st overall.
After recording zero sacks through the first eight weeks, Robinson was one of the NFL’s best pass rushers in the second half of 2024 and finished the season with six sacks.
So far in 2025, Robinson only has one sack. The lack of defensive snaps has apparently played a role in his lackluster production.
The Dolphins are currently averaging two sacks per game this season, which ranks 26th in the NFL.
