As the search progresses, more and more opinions emerge about who should be the coach. The latest comes from NBA forward Draymond Green, who has his pick for the next coach and it’s someone he’s familiar with.

On the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” the forward talked about UNC’s work and defended Jerry Stackhouse.
“The position at the University of North Carolina is open and there are a lot of big names in play…I think North Carolina is going to have to make an interesting decision…But this is the NIL era and how do you get a name that your biggest donors are willing to support? I think it’s interesting in this era,” Green said.
“And the name that jumps out is Jerry Stackhouse. In the time of NIL, where your supporters will rally around one of their own, one they believe in. Stackhouse has the demeanor for this. He’s a guy who will be respected… He should definitely be in the running for this job… He had a great career in North Carolina…”
Stackhouse coached at Vanderbilt for five seasons, going 70-92 in that span and failing to reach the NCAA Tournament. Since then, he has been an assistant for the Golden State Warriors, gaining more coaching experience at the NBA level.

While Stackhouse is a “familiar” candidate, he doesn’t really make much sense right now. This is a crucial signing for the Tar Heels and the goal should be to find someone established with success.
