The former Pakistan cricketer brutally attacks the PSL after an incident in which the normal white ball turned pink during the season opener between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore due to color transfer of the Hyderabad Kingsmen jerseys.
The PSL began its 2026 season on March 26, but controversy arose in the opening match. The clash between Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium unexpectedly turned into what fans described as a “pink ball contest”. The match issue became a topic of conversation on social media and Kamran Akmal did not stop trolling the PSL and its ‘dupatta lane’ jersey.
“I really thought the Hyderabad Kingsmen dyed their kits at some dupatta lane back home, the kind where they dye whites at bargain prices.” – said Kamran Akmal on the Pakistani YouTube channel The Game Plan.
“Kasam se, mujhe laga Hyderabad Kingsmen ne apne kits kisi desi dupatta lane se color karwaya hain, vahi jo saste mein safed kapdon ko naya rang chadha dete hain,” said Kamran AkmalCricketers often polish the ball with their shirts or a towel to maintain its shine, which helps players generate swing. However, this incident has raised serious concerns with many calling it an embarrassment for the PSL. Questions are being raised about how such poor quality uniforms were approved, allowing the color of the jersey to transfer to the match ball.
Hyderabad Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne also spoke about the incident in the post-match conference and noted that he had experienced it for the first time.
“I said to the umpires after the second over, ‘What’s happening? The ball is red’. It must be because of clothing or something. I haven’t seen anything like this before, I’ve seen occasions where something on a bat hits the ball, or when it hits the pad and takes a bit of paint off. But I’ve never seen this happen with clothing. I’m sure they’ll sort it out in the next few matches,” a bemused Labuschagne told reporters.
