Just as quickly, the answer became familiar. Following the selection and the conclusion of Round 1, general manager Howie Roseman met with the media along with head coach Nick Sirianni. When asked about Brown’s future, something that has loomed over the offseason for weeks, Roseman delivered the same message he has consistently leaned on.
“AJ is a member of the Eagles. We don’t have any trades that have been made or have been made. And I think for us, we’re taking this one day at a time. We’re going to look to improve the team tomorrow, and we’ll continue to address everything we have to do with our roster, not just during this draft weekend, but we’ll continue to look for ways to improve the team throughout the offseason and as we get into training camp.”
As expected, there were no surprises or deviations, but still, context matters. The timing of that answer, coming on the heels of a first-round investment at wide receiver, adds another layer to the conversation.

Another chapter is added to the AJ Brown saga.
Whether intentionally or not, the Eagles have now positioned themselves with flexibility. Lemon joins a room that already includes DeVonta Smith and a collection of recent additions, giving Philadelphia options regardless of how the Brown situation plays out.
Still, Roseman does not concede publicly. That’s by design.
The expectation around the league may be that something materializes after June 1, but inside the building, messaging remains controlled. Philadelphia is confirming nothing, rushing nothing and certainly not negotiating through the media. Instead, they are doing what they always do. They keep all the doors open.

The narrative may suggest that an end is near. Brown did not attend voluntary training because his future is uncertain, or perhaps certain. He is expected to be traded after June 1. The Eagles will then be able to spread their huge cap hit over two seasons. Until then, they operate as if the story is still being written and stick to their script. They will function as if nothing is happening, even if everything stays that way.
