Edoardo Bove about his future in football: “I’m not ruling out anything”

Ten months after suffering a heart event in the field, the midfielder of the Romani Edoardo Bove, who was borrowed with Fiorentina when he collapsed during a match against Inter Milan, remains determined to return to the field. In an interview with the Corriere dello SportBove, 23, opened his recovery, future in football and even her treasury with Wolfsburg Christian Eriksen midfielder, who suffered a similar episode during the 2020 Eurocup.

As expected, given the seriousness of the heart event and the Bove choice career, its condition is frequently monitored:

“I have probably had about ten visits, many of them only routine checks: electrocardiograms, stress tests, blood pressure monitoring, along with arrhythmia exams and electrophysiological studies. I am ready. Doctors are right to be cautious … it will still take some time, but I feel that things are full of full circle.”

He also opened his relationship in evolution with pain and how last December events provided him with a new perspective of life outside football:

“It makes me feel alive. I recognize it, I don’t scare me, I accept it. It makes no sense to fight him. Pain made me think of how it could be a normal life. I have many friends who study or work, and during these last months, there were times when I fear that I had to stop playing. If I had not had that accident, I would never have experienced this side of life. It made me reflect on what I could do in the future.

Despite looking at life through a new lens, Bove is still committed to returning to the field and talked about the precautions that his medical team is taking and his future with Rome:

“We are talking to Rome. I am under contract until June 2028. It is still a long way to go.”

“The law does not allow me to play in Italy, and I doubt that I change. But I am not discarding anything. Doctors have not yet come to a conclusion, maybe I’m fine. I am fully aware of the situation, I feel great and I really want to return to my passion.”

Bove talked about the support he received from Eriksen:

“I have spoken with Christian Eriksen more than once, in the first days and even in the summer. We share something in common, although we have not met in person. I feel close to him, and I’m glad that I found another club.”

And finally, Bove spoke about his current relationship with the game:

“Now I only see Rome and Fiorentina, the rest bothers me. Even my father sees less football now, although he is a passionate fanatic. I think it is a natural reaction … For me, especially at the beginning, it was not so difficult as for those who surrounded me: I did not understand how serious it was, I thought I had simply passed out. They knew they could have lost a son.”
