The Atlanta Falcons will have to do without left tackle Jake Matthews for the remainder of Monday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills. Matthews injured his ankle in the third quarter and will not return. The veteran left tackle has been a staple of the team’s offensive line for the past decade.

Second-year offensive tackle Michael Jerrell replaced Matthews. The Falcons acquired Jerrell in a trade with the Seahawks after right tackle Kaleb McGary suffered a season-ending knee injury during training camp. Elijah Wilkinson beat out Jerrell for the starting right tackle job.

The Falcons have a 21-14 lead over the Bills in the fourth quarter. If Matthews has to miss more time, Jerrell could continue to fill in.
