Deion Sanders shared an unexpected moment following the Colorado Buffaloes’ loss to Arizona State, telling the media on Tuesday that former Colorado receiver Jordyn Tyson sought him out after the game to discuss their brief overlap at CU.

Colorado’s head coach had this to say about the interaction:

“Jordyn Tyson found her way to my downstairs dressing room after the game.” Sanders said. “He came in and said, ‘Coach, I apologize.'”

Tyson, who transferred from Colorado after one season, had been one of the program’s most promising young playmakers but was coming off a torn ACL. It’s unclear what prompted his transfer, and many suspect that Sanders didn’t want Tyson, which appears to be false. Clearly, the fact that Tyson went out of his way to connect with Sanders left an impact.

“I told him not to apologize,” Sanders said. “I’m proud of him for what he’s become.”

The trade ended and shed light on how player departures in the era of transfer portals are not always easy.

While Tyson won’t enter the NFL as a Buff, it appears he will become a first-round pick in next year’s draft after a pair of stellar seasons at ASU.
