The Belgium international set up the only goal of the night in midweek as City defeated Burnley to move top of the table. Although it was only his first Premier League assist of 2026, he has produced several stellar performances in recent weeks.

“I don’t know if right now you can find a more decisive winger than Jeremy,” Guardiola insisted. “Doku, to be honest, that guy’s threat is incredible.
“Look at the goal at Burnley, how he fights, controls the assist to Erling. So he’s hard to find.
“But you have to be careful with him. You know, play three days, three days, three days with Jeremy to learn his story. Be careful.”
The City manager had been explaining the lack of minutes played by his teammate Savinho this season. The Brazil international has been limited to just five Premier League starts, and only one of those has occurred since October.

“The reason he didn’t play was because Antoine Semenyo has had an incredible impact,” Guardiola explained. “He played in Madrid, Savinho. So, it’s not a friendly match, right? Champions League, first leg. So, it’s not about that.
“I remember against Newcastle, in the FA Cup, I think so, he was the man of the match, the best, what a match he played against Madrid. And then, injured.”
The 22-year-old is expected to get a chance against Southampton at Wembley on Saturday. He has participated in the last two rounds of the FA Cup.
The Catalan continued: “He renewed his contract not long ago. That shows that the club trusts him. He has incredible potential.”
