Oscar Piastri refused to give a real comment about the clash between him and his teammate in McLaren, Lando Norris, during the first round of the Singapore Grand Prix. Repeating that he has not yet seen the contact from other angles, he was eager to remain silent on the subject.

In the first round, Norris threw himself in a movement to take third place, but when he lost the traction, he crashed with the Red Bull gearbox before hitting the front wheel of his teammate. This was reviewed by the butlers and it was considered that no more measures would be taken. McLaren reached the same conclusion and allowed his British driver to continue in his campaign that saw him take a podium.

Piastri got angry about this, making his thoughts known about the radio of the team, and then asked about the altercation for Sky Sports F1.

“Obviously, a difficult career, first difficult return, but I have not seen the repetition obviously,” he said, not wanting to set his foot on her. “I simply know from the car, so I will go to take a look, but it is obviously a great night for the whole team.

“Obviously not the race I was looking for, but for the whole team,” he continued. “Tonight is a culmination of hard work not only about this year but of many years, so it is a really proud moment for me to be part of that and a proud moment for the entire team.”

When Zak Brown’s comments were given after saying that the drivers of the team “run hard and clean”, the Australian once more kept his advice. “Yes, I think so. I don’t think there is obviously any contact intention, but there was and again I need to look at the repetition and see what happened exactly.”

He pressed whether the moment established a new precedent for the rest of the season, again chose to avoid the question. “I don’t know, I haven’t seen the incident of television cameras, so I must look at that first before saying any comments.”

PIASTRI leaves the weekend after two discouraging Prix de Grands, but is sure that he will not exceed it as the championship fight continues to heat up. Norris is now only 22 points behind him in the classification of the drivers.

“I think I just take the learning of this weekend and see what can be improved.

“I think that the weekend as a whole was really very good. The practice was fine, the qualification was fine, the race maybe a little slow to get underway, but I feel that the rhythm for the rest of the race was quite good. Obviously, here it is quite impossible to advance, so that was all.”
