“I can’t believe it’s not there,” said Van der Beek, for people. “I can’t believe I can’t see my cast partners, my beautiful cast, in person.”

In an Instagram post on Sunday, Van der Beek announced that it would not be present because it had developed “two stomach viruses”, and that Lin-Manuel Miranda would take its place.

After thanking the cast and the team in his video, Van der Beek expressed his gratitude to the program’s fans, which worked for six seasons at the WB from 1998 to 2003.

“You are the best fans in the world,” he said. “Thank you for coming. It’s absolutely humiliating how much you did this night, and I just want to thank you. Thanks to each person here.”

Van der Beek then introduced Miranda as his “substitute.” He joked that his children would consider the star of “Hamilton” “an update.”
