Sometimes, however, fans, workers and staff at stadiums and arenas are at risk of being hit by a ball or even colliding with an athlete if they are seated on the court, as can be the case at NBA and basketball games.

Unfortunately, a woman working as a staffer in Japan experienced something like this when she was hit in the back by a strong serve from volleyball player Yuji Nishida during the SV League all-star event.

However, all the sudden pain the woman was feeling at that moment may have completely disappeared after the incredible and spectacular way Nishida apologized to her.

Yuji Nishida’s epic slide and apology
Immediately after hitting the innocent bystander and the worker, Nishida ran at full speed towards the woman’s direction. He must have started running towards her at a speed faster than his actual service.

The best part of all of this came later when Nishida slid head and belly under the volleyball net and across the court.
Finally, Nishida was able to slide his way up to the woman and proceeded to bow and apologize to her several times.
It sure seemed like the woman was more than happy to accept Nishida’s very sincere apology and even seemed to laugh afterwards as well.
Congratulations to Nishida. He flatly showed no concern for his own well-being and was willing to risk injury just so he could ask for forgiveness in the most sincere and profound way possible. This is definitely an example of actions speaking louder than words.

According to the daily mailThis type of apology from Nishida is: “known as dogeza”. The act: “is a traditional Japanese form of apology and supplication. It usually involves kneeling on the ground and bowing so that the forehead touches the ground. Dogeza is usually reserved for moments of deep remorse or strong displays of respect.”

This has to go down as the biggest, most epic apology ever witnessed in sports history, or maybe even history.
