But while the news came as a surprise to outsiders, the Eagles organization shouldn’t have been surprised.

Stoutland’s agent, Alan Herman, recently told ESPN.com’s Tim McManus that Stoutland was frustrated with the way the 2025 season unfolded and that he believed his voice was not being heard.
Herman also emphasized to McManus that Stoutland, 63, is not retiring from coaching.
As McManus explained, citing an anonymous league source, former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and head coach Nick Sirianni “began incorporating different running designs in an effort to get the operation going.” Stoutland believed he was not properly consulted, leading him to voluntarily relinquish the title of “running game coordinator.”
With the arrival of Sean Mannion as the new offensive coordinator, the Eagles are expected to utilize pieces from Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan’s systems. Stoutland has no record of such crimes.
Which means he will be looking to start a new story with a new team. Given his history with the Eagles, many coaches should want him on staff.
