Like their previous battles, the match between Moxley and Takeshita was extremely physical. Moxley ended up with a bloody nose and swelling around his eye as the match reached the final five minutes. In the final stages, both men threw everything they could at each other, even exchanging attempts to attack each other with a Rear Naked Choke. Moxley would hit the Death Rider on Takeshita, who would kick out, but it was the challenger who looked to win the match in the final moments as he ran through a Lariat from Moxley to kick one, who proceeded to kick one out with a Lariat from Takeshita, but Takeshita would hit his Power Drive Knee into the back of Moxley’s head. However, Takeshita was unable to lift Moxley for the Raging Fire as he was deadlift, causing the time limit to expire.
After the match, Takeshita wanted to make sure he had Moxley in his sights by attacking the champion with Raging Fire. Moxley would cut a backstage promo that was uploaded to AEW’s social media pages expressing his frustration at not getting the win, despite leaving Australia with the title in hand. Moxley stated that there will be a definitive winner the next time he steps into the ring with Takeshita, and with the Revolution PPV on the horizon, there’s a good chance the match will take place there with a longer time limit.Advertisement
