STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) — Shawn Jones Jr. scored 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-4 on 3-pointers, and Mississippi State beat Southeastern Louisiana 75-68 on Saturday.

Josh Hubbard scored 15 points and reserve Jayden Epps 10 for the Bulldogs (2-1). Mississippi State outrebounded the Lions (0-4) 43-33 and five players collected at least five or more boards.

Jeremy Elyzee scored 19 points and set up Jalen Forrest with 16 for Southeast Louisiana.

Epps hit a 3-pointer with 1:55 left in the first half to break a 31-all tie, the Bulldogs went into halftime up 40-35 and never trailed again.

Hubbard’s 3-pointer with 6:18 remaining gave the Bulldogs their largest lead at 67-50. Southeastern Louisiana responded with a 12-1 run and pulled within 68-62 on Isaiah Gaines’ layup with 2:02 left, but the Lions never got closer.

Mississippi State moved its all-time record against Southeast Louisiana to 20-1.
