As the UFC’s only current American champion, Kayla Harrison absolutely hopes to compete in the White House.

Harrison (19-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) is preparing for her first bantamweight title defense against former two-division UFC champion Amanda Nunes (23-5 MMA, 16-2 UFC), but ahead of June’s UFC event in Washington DC. The two-time Olympic gold medalist judoka laid out her ideal plan and will keep her eyes peeled for the UFC 322 co-main event between flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko and Zhang Weili on November 1. 15.

“There’s a fight on the horizon,” Harrison said on Jorge Masvidal’s “Death Row MMA” podcast. “It’s not scheduled yet. It’s a fight we all want to happen, and it will happen sooner rather than later, before that (White House event). My perfect world, I’ll fight soon and then I’ll fight again at the White House. I’ll be on the White House card for sure. I’m the only American champion.

“I’m going to kick her ass real quick, and then in my perfect world, either Valentina beats Weili and then we do a ‘Rocky 4’ style between the United States and Russia, or everyone’s been talking about Ronda (Rousey) coming back, so that would be great. Or whoever’s next in line. I literally don’t care. I’ll fight anyone.”

Harrison faced the returning Nunes in the Octagon immediately after submitting Julianna Pena to claim the bantamweight title at UFC 316 in June.
