Kiffin has been thinking about his father, Monte, frequently over the past week. In addition to being a revered NFL coach, Monte was a close confidant of his son.
Monte died on July 11, 2024. Kiffin also lost his mother, Robin, in July.
“I miss my dad,” Kiffin said. “I really missed him this week.”

Florida out of Lane Kiffin sweepstakes, seeks Tulane’s Jon Sumrall
Florida does not expect to hire Lane Kiffin, according to On3, which reported that the Gators have turned their attention to Tulane coach Jon Sumrall.
Sumrall was considered a possibility at Ole Miss if Kiffin left.
Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin has spoken to more than 10 coaches for the position, according to the report.
Who is Lane Kiffin’s family?
Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin’s family has been in the news surrounding Florida and LSU coaching rumors.
Members of Kiffin’s family visited Gainesville, Florida, on November 16, according to On3, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on November 17, according to the Advocate.

Lane Kiffin has three children with his ex-wife Layla, who moved to Oxford with their son Knox from California this year.
Lane and Layla Kiffin married in 2004. They divorced in 2016, but Lane Kiffin has been open about his marriage restoration process.
Landry Kiffin is Lane Kiffin’s oldest daughter and a student at Ole Miss. Landry has been at Ole Miss football games supporting his father. She recently made headlines for dating LSU linebacker Whit Weeks.
Lane Kiffin’s middle daughter, Presley Kiffin, is a freshman spiker on Southern Cal’s indoor volleyball team.

Lane Kiffin offer from LSU, Florida, Ole Miss expected to be a big raise
Lane Kiffin’s current salary is $9 million. LSU, Florida and Ole Miss are expected to offer Kiffin between $13 million and $14 million, according to On3.
Additionally, the three schools are also expected to offer at least $25 million for investment in the NIL list, the report said.
What is Lane Kiffin’s contract and salary?
Ole Miss’ win against Oklahoma on Oct. 25 triggered an automatic contract extension for Kiffin.

Because it was Ole Miss’ seventh regular-season win, Kiffin’s in-state contract with the Ole Miss Athletic Foundation will be automatically extended one year on Jan. 1, 2026. His contract now runs through Dec. 31, 2031.
The added year will be worth $9 million, with $7.2 million guaranteed.
Kiffin’s $9 million salary is tied for No. 6 in the SEC.

Starting Dec. 1, 2025, if Ole Miss fires Kiffin without cause, he would receive $36.6 million.
