Liverpool have not had it easy over the last month. They have been losing at an alarming rate, with five defeats in their last six league games.

Things simply need to reset after the international break and Arne Slot desperately needs to find something that works. A big part of that will be getting the best out of Mo Salah, something Liverpool simply haven’t managed this season.
The Egyptian is usually on the sidelines of games, unable to occupy the positions he occupied with great success last season. While he still managed four goals and two assists in the league, he is nowhere near the levels he had in 2024/25.
However, if Slot wants to do that, it needs a little help. This will not be easy as he has to juggle several world-class players, several of whom are not finding their rhythm.
But it seems Salah has found a way to provide that help.

Mo Salah retires from the Egypt national team
Egypt will now select Salah for their friendly against Cape Verde this week. They have published a statement on the Egyptian FA website confirming that the captain will “rest”.
It’s fantastic news for Salah, who only played one game during the international break and will now have a full week’s rest ahead of Liverpool’s return to action this weekend. The Reds will host Nottingham Forest on Saturday the 22nd.
So, Slot can’t ask for more. The busiest period of the season is approaching and Salah will not arrive tired. Basically, it is the best possible opportunity to regain his form, something that would be perfect before December.
