PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The man accused of fatally stabbing a Portland mother two years ago He was arrested in Montana on Monday, Portland police announced.
Connor J. O’Brien, 21, was booked into the Missoula County Jail and charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon. He will be extradited to Portland.
O’Brien allegedly killed Tiara Atencio, 22, in October 2023. Atencio’s family was notified of the arrest.
KOIN 6 Noticias spoke with Atencio’s family After her murder in 2023, she said she was happy, joyful and “the best mom” to her 1-year-old son Legend.
“She didn’t die of a natural cause. She didn’t die in her sleep or slip down the stairs and hit her head. My sister was murdered. She was stabbed to death,” said Angelina Perez, Atencio’s sister. “That’s the hardest thing for me to understand. It’s the hardest thing to process right now. I have this pain and this anger that I don’t know what to do with. I just want justice for Tiara.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Portland police.
