The Miami Marlins may not be a World Series contender in 2026, but they have some interesting young players who could help make the Marlins a postseason contender in the near future.

One of those key young players is All-Star outfielder Kyle Stowers. After a breakout 2025 season in which he posted 3.6 bWAR with a .912 OPS, the Marlins appeared to have found a superstar in the making.
However, as MLB.com’s Christian De Nicola reports, the Marlins received some bad news about Stowers for the 2026 season. Stowers will begin the year on the disabled list and will miss some time at the start of the 2026 regular season with a hamstring injury.

“Kyle Stowers will begin the season with the IL #Marlins,” reports De Nicola. “Grade 1 hamstring strain. 3-4 weeks.”

This is difficult news for the Marlins, as Stowers is one of their best players and yet he will be out for some time.
The 28-year-old left-handed outfielder will potentially miss a month of the season with his hamstring issue.
After posting a breakout season in 2025, with a .288 batting average, 25 home runs, an All-Star appearance and 3.6 bWAR in the first breakout year of his career, there was plenty of optimism for Stowers heading into his fifth MLB season in 2026.

But now he’ll begin the season on the disabled list with a hamstring issue that will keep him out for three or four weeks, or potentially longer, depending on how his recovery goes.

This spring, Stowers played in six games, batting .231 with a .719 OPS thanks to three hits, one double, no triples and no home runs in 13 at-bats with three walks and just two strikeouts.
He’s a great player, but he’ll be limited in 2026 because of this hamstring injury. It’s a tough blow for the Marlins, as one of their best players will miss some time to start the season.
