Newcastle United take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday hoping to get a good away result in the Premier League. The Magpies recently earned a close 2-2 draw away to Bayer 04 Leverkusen, so they would be eager to win again this weekend.

Eddie Howe will field his men in a 4-3-3 formation and could make some adjustments to his first team for this game. Lewis Miley and Jacob Murphy are expected to play from the start of this contest.

Defense

Aaron Ramsdale will play in goal for the Tyneside club after scoring a brace in his last outing. Dan Burn will resume his defensive partnership with Malick Thiaw at the heart of the Howe backline as they look to maintain solidity at the back throughout the game.

Tino Livramento will try to attract attention at right back, while Lewis Hall will hope to put in a good performance on the other side at left back. Both will obtain the license to advance and express themselves within the opposing field.

Fabian Schar will cover the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Lewis Miley, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali will anchor the Magpies’ midfield as they focus on winning the 50-50 battles in the center of the park and orchestrating some clear-cut chances in the final third.

Joe Willock will be named on the bench and could make an impact in the second half if necessary. However, Joelinton will be in a race against time to be fit for this clash.

Stroke

Anthony Gordon will look to take advantage of his pace on the left flank, while Jacob Murphy looks to make a good case for himself on the right flank.

Nick Woltemade will lead the line for the Magpies in the final third. He failed to score in his last outing and would be eager to make a difference for Newcastle United against the Black Cats this weekend.

Yoane Wissa will have to settle for a place on the bench while he waits for his chance to influence the game in the fourth quarter if necessary.
