The New York Yankees aren’t done yet.

The Yankees rebounded after another slow start to upset the Toronto Blue Jays 9-6 on Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium. It marked their first ALDS win this fall and kept their postseason safe despite losing the first two games of the series. They now trail 2-1 heading into Wednesday’s fourth game.

The Blue Jays, after two extremely dominant outings in the first two games in Toronto, picked up right where they left off Tuesday night, thanks in large part to Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

He hit a two-run homer in the first inning to put the Blue Jays on the board right away. He also marked his third straight game with a home run.

While the Yankees cut that lead with one run in the bottom half, the Blue Jays scored four in the third inning. Anthony Santander had a two-RBI single and Guerrero made it home safely on Ernie Clement’s wildly airborne single toward the plate.

But that’s when the Blue Jays offense stopped. The Yankees slowly chipped away at that lead before Aaron Judge hit a three-run shot from deep off the left field foul pole in the fourth inning to suddenly tie the game. It marked his first home run of the postseason, but his 11th hit overall, which is the most by any player in the field this fall.

Jazz Chisholm added another in the fifth inning and had a perfect bat drop to go with it, to officially give the Yankees their first lead of the entire series.

By the time it was over and the Blue Jays were able to complete a scoreless inning on defense, the Yankees had accumulated eight unanswered runs. Any momentum the Blue Jays had was long gone. From there, the Yankees simply took advantage of their advantage to take the victory. It marked Toronto’s first loss of the season after leading by at least five runs in the contest. The Blue Jays were a perfect 39-0 up to that point.

While it wasn’t a good performance for the Blue Jays, and they will likely face a bullpen game on Wednesday, there is good news for them. They are just one win away from reaching the American League Championship Series for the first time since 2016, and they have two games to do it. The Yankees, even as impressive as their turnaround was, still have a lot of work to do.
