Another blow for Morocco a few days before the start of AFCON 2025. Sofyan Amrabat was injured yesterday while playing with Betis in the Europa League.
On Thursday night Betis hosted Utrecht in the Europa League. At home, coach Manuel Pellegrini presented a full team with Sofyan Amrabat and Isco orchestrating the play in midfield. But just ten minutes into the match, a misunderstanding caused both players to violently collide while fighting for the ball.

The Moroccan, facing the play, hit the ball at the same moment as his Spanish teammate, who had not seen it coming. The outcome was serious: both players had to leave the field of play due to injury. Isco left immediately after the collision, while Amrabat attempted to continue for five more minutes before heading to the locker room.
Amrabat’s injury couldn’t have come at a worse time as the midfielder will play in the AFCON at home in less than a month.
